Welcome to the Sinton Group!

We develop fluid systems for applications in energy and analysis. Our current research themes are:

CO2 Conversion

There is a growing need for solutions that can convert CO2 into useful products, and contribute to the decarbonization and electrification of Canada’s steel and chemical industries. The Sinton Group is developing electrochemical conversion methods to convert CO2 and water into useful chemicals such as ethanol and ethylene.

CO2 Capture

Capturing CO2, either from the atmosphere or from industrial point sources, is an important strategy to reducing or removing carbon emissions. The Sinton group is developing new electrochemical strategies to work directly with capture fluids, to either electrify the CO2 capture process or produce useful chemicals.

Thermal Fluids

The Sinton Group is developing high-throughput microfluidic testing and computation tools to rapidly test fluid properties. These tools will accelerate our search for high-performing fluids.
